This week I wanted to show you how you can actually save money when shopping plastic free and it’s because price tags can be confusing where they show the price so on first glance, their packs in plastic seem cheaper.

Often you’ll see a big price for something in plastic which is showing a cheaper price than the loose & plastic free ones. But that’s because you need to check the price per KG which are displayed in different places on the label.

When talking to the local farmer in my home town he said it’s because supermarkets want you to spend more, so if you buy their plastic packs of stuff, it actually costs you more than if you just bought the few you needed loose and drives up their sales because it appears cheaper.

Next time you go shopping, just think about how many you actually need, then see how much the pack you’re about to buy is and check the price on the loose ones - you may actually find that you can save money and cut down on any food waste too!
